The Perfume Shelf
Wearing perfume is not a new fad, as it is a trend that has been part of many cultures since we began recording history. Women's perfume is an important part of her attire for many women, and some say they feel "undressed" if they venture out when not wearing it. The majority of women will treat themselves to perfume from time to time, but are even more thrilled to receive it as a gift.

Fragrance companies are forever creating new women’s perfumes to delight the senses and capture the imagination of both women and the men in their company. A master perfumer will take many months, or even years, painstakingly mixing new combinations of oils and other compounds using both skill and intuition, to create what he hopes will be a fragrance that delights consumers worldwide.
To create a women's fragrance, a perfumer, or “nose” will consult with the perfume company's management on the type of perfume and the image they wish to communicate. The target market for the perfume will need to be identified, as well as a budget for the ingredients that will be used in the perfume. A production time frame will be determined. Once these factors are decided, the perfumer will work with any number of around 500 natural compounds and essential oils, as well as several thousand man-made synthetic aromas. Typically, a top-quality woman's perfume purchased in the stores today will have a combination of around 75 distinct components.
Choosing a woman's fragrance for yourself or a friend can be daunting, because perfume is not only about the scent of the perfume itself, but also how it smells on an individual woman. A woman's fragrance is tied to many things, including nostalgia and emotions, so the ideal perfume for each lady is a very personal thing.
